The next conference will take place in Paris and Caen. The Centre de Recherche sur les Espaces et les Sociétés (CRESO), a research team in social geography at the University of Caen, is organizing the event together with loval activists i.e. "La voix des femmes" (organization working with immigrant women). By choosing two cities a world metropolis and a middle-size city- we would like to give an idea of the urban issues at stake in France, providing some concrete backgrounds for discussion and comparision. The conference is entitled « solidaricités » ; we are going to consider the « rights to the city » not only on a local level but also on a global one, in a time of growing inequalities.

June 17-19 Conference, Paris and Caen
June 20-22 Retreat for INURA members.
Sunday, June 16
Arrival in Paris accommodation at Club Unesco
or at a hotel. Note that most of the rooms at Club Unesco have two beds.
Another accommodation can be provided by request.
Monday, June 17
Urban and social issues in immigrant/low income
neighbourhoods of Paris : La Chapelle and la Goutte dâOr
9 00- 10.30 am Welcome at Salle Saint-Bruno -Introduction
10.30 Tours in groups, meeting activists,
professionals and residents. (The participants will choose out of a range
of issues and places)

Tuesday, June 18
9.00 am Tourism and ideology in Paris/or Saint-Denis,
social housing projects (to be confirmed)
Evening : arriving in Caen, Normandy (2 h. by train
from Paris)
8.30 pm Public event at University of Caen concerning
cities and globalization
Wednesday, June 19
9.00 am Welcome at The Maison de la Recherche en
Sciences Humaines (MRSH)
10.00 Introduction
11.00 Tours in the city, meeting activists, professionnals,
residents (participants will choose out of a range of issues and places).
We plan to visit the city by bikes.
5 pm Discussion at the MRSH
8 pm : Algerian event- documentary film and debate
on Algerian cities at Le Café des Images, Hérouville-Saint-Clair.
Thursday, June 20
Retreat in Clinchamps-sur-Orne (12 km of the city)
in a gîte (cottage). Note that the rooms have several beds.
Friday, June 21
Retreat
All participants are invited to present papers,
projects, videos etc.
We are going to organize workshops according
to the different topics.
Evening : Fête de la musique (music in the
streets) in Caen
Saturday, June 22 Retreat.
Sunday, June 23 Departure
